Young Talents Propel Algeria to Mediterranean Games Semifinals

The Algerian national football team has successfully qualified for the semi-finals of the football tournament at the Mediterranean Games 2026. The Desert Warriors achieved a perfect record in Group B, securing nine points from three consecutive victories. They defeated Kosovo 2-1, Italy 3-1, and Albania 2-0. The team is now set to face Morocco, who finished second in Group A with four points, in the semi-final match.

The tournament has also served to highlight the emergence of several promising young talents within the Algerian squad. Among these is Kouhili, a 21-year-old winger who started his career at the Paradou Academy before joining Mouloudia Algiers during the summer transfer window. Kouhili's experience in the Algerian League includes 63 matches, where he scored 16 goals and provided one assist. His performance in the Mediterranean Games included a goal against Italy and a strong showing in the opening game against Kosovo.

Another key discovery is Boudrabala, also a 21-year-old winger, who began his football journey at USM El Harrach before transferring to USM Algiers in 2025. Across various competitions, Boudrabala has participated in 32 matches, contributing to six goals through scoring and assisting. His notable contributions in the current tournament include two goals scored against Italy and Albania, in addition to an impressive performance in the first-round match against Kosovo.

Furthermore, Akhrib, who developed through the youth academy of JS Kabylie, has made a significant impact. With 73 appearances for the first team, he has been involved in 20 goals. Akhrib has also represented multiple Algerian youth national teams, and his market value is estimated at 500,000 euros. The collective performance of these young players underscores Algeria's strong athletic capabilities and promising future in football.
