Minister of State for Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab received on Tuesday the President of Spanish company Arflu, Gonzaga Fernandez, accompanied by a senior corporate delegation, at the ministry’s headquarters in Algiers.
The high-level meeting, attended by senior ministry officials, served as a platform to explore expanded cooperation between Sonatrach and the Spanish firm, which specializes in designing and manufacturing industrial valves and technical equipment for the oil, gas, and seawater desalination sectors.
Discussions centered on deepening industrial and technical collaboration across hydrocarbons infrastructure — including equipment for exploration, production, transport, processing, and desalination plants — in line with Algeria’s ongoing national programs in these strategic fields.
Both parties examined prospects for establishing joint industrial ventures aimed at localizing manufacturing of hydrocarbons-related equipment inside Algeria, strengthening local content, transferring technology and expertise, and developing maintenance and technical support services.
Arkab told dzwatch that such industrial partnerships are essential to Algeria’s sovereign strategy of reducing import dependency and building a robust national industrial base in the energy sector.
