Algeria and Niger Strengthen Energy Partnership in High-Level Talks

Algeria’s Minister of State for Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, received Tuesday a high-level Nigerien ministerial delegation at the ministry’s headquarters in Algiers, in a meeting that underscored the deepening energy ties between the two neighboring nations.

The Nigerien delegation, led by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Petroleum alongside the Director-General of national oil company SONIDEP, held extensive discussions with their Algerian counterparts on expanding bilateral cooperation across the oil and gas value chain.

As dzwatch exclusively learned, the talks reviewed findings from a recent technical visit by the Nigerien delegation to key Sonatrach facilities in Boumedras and Hassi Messaoud, where officials witnessed firsthand Algeria’s advanced technical capabilities in exploration, production, training, and petroleum services.

Both sides agreed to pursue concrete measures to strengthen cooperation along the full energy value chain, with Algeria positioning its national expertise and proven industry experience as a strategic asset for Niger’s developing hydrocarbons sector.
