Solidarity Sector to Open 200 New Special Education Sections

Algeria's National Solidarity, Family, and Women's Issues Sector is poised to significantly expand its educational framework, with plans to open over 200 new special education sections during the 2026-2027 academic year. This initiative will increase the total number of integrated sections within national education schools to more than 1,700. These new sections are designed to provide support for 40,000 students, overseen by a dedicated pedagogical staff comprising 15,000 supervisors, reflecting a broad commitment to inclusive education.
The preparations for this expansion are underpinned by an institutional network that includes 242 specialized educational institutions and 30 annexes distributed across all wilayas. In line with directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the sector has also established the first National Autism Center in the capital, complemented by four additional specialized centers located in Oran, Bechar, Tebessa, and Tipasa. These new facilities will be supported by a nine-axis procedural guide and a national campaign focused on early diagnosis and care for individuals on the autism spectrum, aiming to accurately assess disability levels and guide children based on their individual abilities.
Beyond the establishment of new sections and centers, the sector has undertaken several other solidarity operations. These include the disbursement of a school grant totaling 13 million dinars to 2.7 million students, completed before the end of July. Additionally, the distribution of 186,000 school bags has commenced. Further financial commitments include allocations exceeding 195.7 million dinars for acquiring pedagogical equipment tailored for people with disabilities, alongside 100 million dinars specifically designated for equipping schools catering to visually impaired students.
