Algeria Commits Vast Resources to Agricultural Innovation
Algeria has committed significant material and human resources to bolster innovation and agricultural development, a key focus highlighted at the recent Algerian-Slovenian Business Forum. Co-chaired by Algeria's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, in Slovenia, the forum emphasized the readiness of Algerian institutions to support major projects and cultivate an environment conducive to productive partnerships. During the event, which took place alongside the "AGRA 2026" international exhibition where Algeria is featured as guest of honor, Minister Baddari advocated for the swift establishment of a joint business council. This council is envisioned as the primary driver for translating strategic projects into tangible realities.
The discussions at the forum underscored various dimensions of vital bilateral cooperation, including the integration of artificial intelligence technologies into innovative solutions for the agricultural sector. Other critical areas addressed were technology transfer, the development of modern mechanization to boost production, and the modernization of agricultural product supply chains. Furthermore, the event focused on leveraging expertise and technologies presented at the international agriculture and food exhibition in Slovenia to advance partnerships and knowledge transfer in precision agriculture and food industries. The importance of launching joint research and development projects for forest protection and sustainable resource utilization was also noted.
The meeting also highlighted Algeria's vast natural potential, infrastructure, and university competencies as assets for attracting investments and developing comprehensive food security solutions. Both nations expressed their resolve to forge a robust partnership linking universities, research bodies, and economic operators, aiming to transform research outcomes into concrete developmental projects. Concurrently, the Algerian pavilion at the "AGRA-2026" exhibition has garnered considerable attention from visitors and economic operators, showcasing the quality, diversity, and competitive edge of Algerian products, particularly those with export potential beyond hydrocarbons. This participation, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion with 19 Algerian operators, serves to enhance communication, explore new partnership opportunities, and expand Algeria's presence in international markets.
