French Agencies Launch Algeria Tours for 2027 Solar Eclipse

A rare and spectacular total solar eclipse, expected to last nearly six minutes, one of the longest of the 21st century, is scheduled for August 2, 2027, across North Africa. Algeria is preparing for this planetary event, with at least two French travel agencies already launching reservations for tourist circuits. These tours offer international visitors the opportunity to observe the eclipse while also discovering various sites across the country, marking a new trend in astronomical tourism.
Tamera, an agency specializing in adventure, treks, and cultural travel, has introduced a 12-day circuit in Algeria, priced from 3,290 euros, with departures set for July 28, 2027. This itinerary includes cultural visits and discoveries, with planned stops at Constantine, Djemila-Timgad, the Balcons du Ghoufi, and Boussaâda. The Boussaâda region, located in the pre-Saharan fringe of the high plateaus, is specifically chosen for its optimal observation conditions, offering clear skies to view the cosmic corona during the day. The tour also encompasses excursions to Ben Srour and Kalâa de Beni Hammad, before concluding with visits to iconic sites in Algiers and Tipaza.
Similarly, Nomade Aventure is offering a 10-day journey, starting from 2,297 euros, with departures on July 25, 2027. Their program invites tourists to experience the total solar eclipse in the Oran region and explore major cities like Alger, Oran, Mostaganem, and Tlemcen, immersing themselves in Algeria's rich history and civilizations. The global interest in such astronomical events demonstrates a significant opportunity for Algerian tourism, suggesting a new niche that can integrate science, history, nature, and the discovery of new sites, further enhancing Algeria's appeal as an international destination.
