Wahid Sadi, President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), has accused certain groups of attempting to create turmoil within the national team. In a statement to Algerian television following Monday’s match against Uganda, Sadi claimed that these groups are exploiting the national team to settle personal scores and are targeting the FAF President specifically.

“I don’t want to discuss matters outside the realm of sports,” Sadi stated. “There are people trying to create chaos and confusion, but Algeria always prevails thanks to its dedicated individuals.”

On a more positive note, Sadi praised the national team’s valuable victory against Uganda in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He noted that the team was under immense pressure, especially after the loss to Guinea, but highlighted the effective instructions from coach Petković, which ultimately bore fruit.

“In the second half, the coach gave instructions, and the players fought hard. Congratulations to us for the three points,” Sadi added.

He also addressed the players’ mentality, acknowledging that they seemed exhausted. “The psychological aspect affected us significantly, especially after the loss to Guinea. The players’ morale was low, but it’s not easy to win in Africa. Better times are ahead, God willing.”

It is worth noting that the national team secured a 2-1 victory over Uganda at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala. After falling behind, Houssem Aouar equalized for the Desert Warriors before Saïd Benrahma secured the lead in the 57th minute with a brilliant solo effort by Mohamed Amoura.
