Cyprus Falls 24-33 to Algerian Handball Squad in Taranto

The Algerian men's national handball team successfully opened its Mediterranean Games campaign today, securing a decisive victory over Cyprus. Competing in Taranto, Italy, the Algerian squad faced its Cypriot counterpart in the Group B opener of the ongoing tournament. This win marks a positive start for the team in the international competition.
The "Greens," as the Algerian team is known, established an early lead, concluding the first half with a score of 17-10. This advantage was maintained and extended in the second half, with the team, including player Mesoud Berkous, ultimately securing a 33-24 triumph. The performance demonstrated the team's capabilities in their initial match of the games.
Following this successful start, the national team is set to compete against Greece in their second fixture on Tuesday. Their group stage concludes on Thursday with a Maghreb derby match against Tunisia, rounding out their initial phase of the Mediterranean Games.
